Why
use Bark/Mulch
Mulching
is very beneficial to the garden. It conserves soil moisture,
keeps down weeds, insulates soil temperature, encourages worms,
aerates clay soils, helps bind sandy soils, builds soil structure
and it looks great
Mulching
hints
Before
Envirobark applies the bark, ensure the area to be mulched is
thoroughly wet. Once the mulch is applied, this water will be
trapped in the soil. It is a good idea to use newspapers before
the mulch is applied to keep weeds down. Is is also a good idea
to apply a slow release fertilizer beneath to allow an immediate
and continuous nutritional supply. Envirobark applies the mulch
at a minimum of 50-75mm thick. Any less and it would provide
little, if any benefit at all. Make sure the bark is pulled
back slightly from the plant stems.
